Cookie Policy.

A short and specific list of the cookies we use, why they exist, and how you can turn them off. We use the minimum needed to run the site and the Business Portal — and none for advertising or cross-site tracking.

1. What a cookie is (briefly)

A cookie is a small text file a website stores on your device so it can remember something between page loads. Some are essential to a site working; some are used to understand how a site is used; some are used to advertise. Visit Vanta only uses the first two categories.

2. Cookies on visitvanta.com

  • vv_session — essential — keeps you signed in to the Business Portal for the duration of your session.
  • vv_consent — essential — remembers which cookie categories you accepted so we don't ask on every page.
  • vv_theme — preference — remembers your light/dark preference in the Portal.
  • vv_pa — analytics — an aggregate, IP-truncated product-analytics ID, used only to understand which sections of our site people read. Never used to identify individuals.

3. What we don't use

  • No advertising cookies. No cross-site trackers. No third-party marketing pixels.
  • The one exception on the marketing website is our contact form provider (Tally), which sets its own session cookie only when you interact with the form. Their policy: tally.so/help/privacy-policy.

4. How to control cookies

You can decline analytics cookies at the bottom of any page via the "Cookie preferences" link. Essential cookies cannot be disabled — without them the site simply doesn't work. Every modern browser also lets you clear or block cookies at the browser level.

5. Changes to this policy

If we add a new cookie, we'll update this list before it goes live. The effective date at the top is always current.
